Claire Armitage creates prints that celebrate the wild beauty of West Cornwall’s landscapes, flora, and fauna. Inspired by hidden woodlands, moorlands, and the dramatic meeting of coast and sky along the Atlantic, her work captures a sense of place that invites viewers to connect with the natural world. Working amidst meadows and woodlands, Claire revisits locations to draw and paint directly from life, observing seasonal changes in colour and form. In her studio, she creates detailed botanical studies of collected plants, developing compositions and palettes for her linocuts. The process of drawing, carving, and printing is a mindful practice, grounding her in the present and offering a poignant reminder of nature’s delicate balance and profound interconnectedness.
