Three Two One

Sara’s sculptures are a playful, sometimes dark, often humorous exploration of human behaviour and psychological states in response to our ever-changing world. Her work often incorporates animals as metaphorical stand-ins for the human condition, reflecting the multifaceted stories we tell ourselves and others. Each piece Sara creates builds upon the last, with fresh challenges in the making process sparking ideas for new works and deepening her connection to clay. Her sculptural vessels, layered with slips, underglazes, and oxides, are inspired by her dynamic mixed-media sketchbook practice. Sara’s life with clay began with an Honours degree in Fine Art, specialising in ceramics. She worked at Dartington Pottery in the 1990s. When life-events took her away from an art-focused career, she engaged in other creative work - farming, tree planting, and dry-stone walling. Later, after earning a PGCE in Art, she taught weaving, pottery, and art to adults with learning disabilities.
