The Artist - Kate Anstead
I am a sculptor exploring the deep connection between humanity and nature. Using materials like concrete, ceramics, stone, and wood, my work reflects our interaction with the landscape. Inspired by its textures and shapes and our constant human impact, I aim to capture the balance between permanence and transience, weaving narratives that engage viewers in conversations. My sculptures embody themes of memory and environmental change, emphasizing the significance of materiality in their context. With a BA in Sculpture from Wimbledon School of Art and a Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Stonework Conservation, I spent many years restoring stone artifacts and heritage structures. This experience deepened my understanding of how objects interact with their environment. Recently, I earned a Master’s in Fine Art from Arts University Plymouth, allowing me to further explore my ideas. My practice fosters dialogue about humanity’s role in shaping the world, reflecting how nature and human influence intertwine.
